HOT AIR BALLOON SAFARIS

Take to the sky over herds of wildlife in the Serengeti Plains, flying in a hot air balloon. The balloon can soar over the most inaccessible and undisturbed parts of the reserve and offers a bird's eye view of the plains below. At the conclusion of your incredible flight, you'll be treated to a champagne breakfast in the bush. Before returning to your lodge, your balloon pilot will present you with a Balloon Flight Certificate.

TS27 • 4 Hours :: Balloon Safari Masai Mara

Balloon Safari is one of the most popular ' add-on ' option with tourists on Safari or Beach Holidays in East Africa, especially with couples on honeymoons. The hot air balloons lift off just before sunrise when the breeze on the plains is still cold. Once airborne, the balloons are blown by the prevailing winds across the broad landscape.

Apart from the hiss of the burners, the flight above the Masai Mara plains is magically silent. The pilot controls the height of the craft by regulating the flow of hot air into the balloon. Sometimes the balloon will descend over the plains for a close up view of the wildlife; on other occasions, it rises to clear a tree canopy and rise over the reverine forest.

TS28 • 4.5 Hours :: Balloon Safari Serengeti

5:00 am, Serengeti Balloon Safaris will collect you from your central Serengeti lodge or camp, and transfer you by Landrover to our launch site near Maasai Kopjes. Here you will meet your pilot, receive a briefing and watch the inflation of your balloon.

At dawn we take off, rising as the sun rises and float in whichever direction the winds of the morning take us. Your pilot can precisely control the altitude of your balloon: sometimes flying at treetop height, sometimes lower, offering a unique perspective and great photographic opportunities of the wildlife below. The flight is for about one hour depending on conditions, on landing you celebrate in the traditional manner with champagne (well, an excellent sparkling wine), before sitting down to a full English breakfast prepared and served in the bush in 'Out of Africa' style with bone china, linen table cloths, King's silver etc.

After breakfast you receive your Serengeti Balloon certificate and we drive you back to Seronera Lodge game viewing enroute. 9:30 am Arrive at Seronera ready to continue your day's activities.

Airport Transfer & Taxi Services We provide airport transfer services between all major and minor airports in Kenya and in the Northern Tourist Circuit of Tanzania. If you arrive late or have to acquire a visa your chauffer will patiently wait for you with a sign board (pager) reading your name. Kindly provide flight details prior to departure from your home destination to enable us prepare your transfer car.
