TM09 • 7 Days :: Mount Kenya Climb Chogoria Route Down Sirimon Route

Tour Summary: Climbing through Chogoria Route Down Naro Moru Route is by far the most scenic and interesting route. It takes in both tropical forests and moor land.
Day 1 Nairobi-Chogoria
Depart from Nairobi at 9:30am. and drive for 4 hrs to chogoria village. Bed and breakfast at Transit Motel.
Day 2 Chogoria
After breakfast, transfer to 15km mark inside the rain forest. Hike for 15km to Chogoria park gate campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 Mugi Hills
Hike for 9 km to Lake Ellis camp site (3,400m) for dinner and overnight. A side track to Mugi hills (3,580m) is recommended.
Day 4 Mintos Hut
After breakfast, hike for 10km to Mintos hut (4,400m) for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 Shiptons Camp
Hike 5km to Shiptons Camp (4,200m) Simba Col (4,600m).
Day 6 Point Lenana
Attempt Point Lenana (4,985m) at 3:30am. After sunrise, descend back to shiptons camp for breakfast. Descend further down to Old Moses camp (3,300m) for dinner and overnight.
Day 7 Sirimon-Nanyuki
Leave the mountain via Sirimon gate for transfer to Nanyuki. After lunch, connect the transport back to Nairobi arriving in the early evening.
Normal Climb WHAT IS INCLUDED: Transport to & from the mountain, Porters, Guide & Cooks Fee, three meals a day whilst on the mountain, all hut & camping fees, all park entry fees, certificate of achievement.
NOT INCLUDED ON BOTH: Tipping to the crews, personal & technical climbing equipment, Personal Insurance, Rescue fee, Technical & Rock climbing guide optional.
