TS31 • 2 Nights :: The Ark and Aberdare Country Club
Day 1 Nairobi-Aberdare
Be ready for collection at between 8.30 a.m. - 09.00 a.m. You drive north out of Nairobi, past business complexes, and in to the open country where you will see coffee and sisal growing. Pass by Thika (home of Elspeth Huxley of Flames Trees of Thika fame) and the Agricultural Research Institute on into rolling Kikuyu agricultural country. Driving through Nyeri, to Mweiga and the Aberdare Country Club.
This attractive club is sited on the side of a hill with wide views across towards Mt. Kenya, and there is a small game sanctuary, suitable for walking, in the grounds.
After lunch you can leave your larger luggage in the store, and you travel in a bus to the Ark, built in the shape of Noah's biblical ark, where you spend the night.
The Ark overlooks floodlit water holes visited regularly by buffalo, elephant, wart hog, bush pig, a variety of antelope and occasionally lion and other large animals. The evening is spent on the open air verandahs or in the public areas, watching the animals and birds as they come to drink. Dinner is served in the dining room and it is possible to arrange a call at night if a particular animal, such as a rhino, visits the water hole. Dinner and overnight of game viewing at the ARK.
Day 2 Aberdare Country Club
In the morning tea and coffee are served, and then you return to the Aberdare Country Club for a full English breakfast. After breakfast you are at leisure for the day.
The Aberdare Country Club offers a 9 hole golf course, tennis courts and swimming pool. The game sanctuary is suitable for walking and you may see giraffe, several species of antelope or zebra as you explore, in sight of the distant peaks of Mt. Kenya.
Lunch and dinner are included and the cottages at this attractive club are extremely
comfortable. Dinner and overnight at the Aberdare Country Club.
Day 3 Aberdare-Nairobi
After a good breakfast you leave the Club to return to Nairobi, arriving before lunch at the end of your safari.
