Day 1 Nairobi-Masai Mara
Pickup from your hotel at 8:00am & depart to the Masai Mara Game reserve, stopping at the viewpoint of the Great Rift Valley and Narok town for lunch. Arrive in time for a late afternoon game drive in this reserve, which is essentially the Northern extension of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park as an artificial border only separates the two. Dinner and overnight at lodge.
Day 2 and 3 Masai Mara
Early breakfast followed by a full day game viewing within the reserve. This reserve is renown for its black manned lions, elephants and buffalo that make three out of the “Big Five”, though luck is essential for spotting the other two namely the Leopard and the Rhino which are rather shy and elusive. You will enjoy your picnic lunch at the hippo pool spotting the crocodiles basking on the rocks and the hippos swimming in the river. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 Masai Mara-Nakuru
After breakfast, proceed for a morning game drive up to 10:00am. Depart the reserve for Nakuru, with lunch en-route, arriving in the early evening. Dinner and overnight in a mid-class hotel.
Day 5 Nakuru-Baringo-Bogoria
After an early breakfast, proceed to Lake Baringo for an hour boat ride, which enables you to see hippos at close range & the birdlife that inhabits this lake as over 350 species of birds have been recorded including some that conform to a migratory pattern all the way from Europe. After lunch, proceed to Lake Bogoria to see the Hot Springs. Care must be taken as the water is super hot, around 48°c. Remember to carry some eggs & you will see how fast it will boil in the hot springs. Return to Nakuru for dinner & overnight in a mid-class hotel.
Day 6 Nakuru-Nairobi
After an early breakfast, proceed for a game drive in the nearby Nakuru National Park. This is renown for its array of bird life including flamingoes, white pelican and the marabou stork and other birds that breed in the lake’s alkaline waters. Both Black and White rhinos are seen here and the rare Rothschild’s giraffe that have five horns instead of the usual three and a clear instead of the spotted shanks (legs). A visit to the baboon cliff offers a scenic panorama of the lake below, surrounded by a vast track of euphoria and acacia forest. Makalia Falls within the park are an additional attraction. After lunch, return to Nairobi arriving in the early evening.
